Dissertation Description

The present thesis involves the development of an Android application which used to recognize, read and verify code labels of healthcare products. The application implementation was developed for Android device for Android device with installed camera (Smartphone or Tablet). The label of health product consists of two fields a) a 2D Barcode Data Matrix which is a two-dimensional bar code and b) an encoded alphanumeric text description that its elements are contained in the Data Matrix.

The aim of the application is to read the two fields of the label and compare their contents. With this comparison the application verifies that the label has been printed correctly. For the processing of the data from first field required a Data Matrix reader and for the second field has been used an optical character recognition (OCR).
